7M Focus: Colleges, Universities, Bible Schools

Our 7M Focus Strategic Development tools have been successful in helping students get focused in this age of distractions. Our vision, like that of your institution, is to prepare this generation for their personal assignment in life, find their sense of purpose and become a positive influence in their world. The following three statistics are related to changing their college major course of study, those who never work in the discipline in which they majored in and finally the all-important area of retention.

However, studies indicate that at least 80 percent of students in the United States end up changing their major at least once, according to the National Center for Education Statistics. On average, college students change their major at least three times over the course of their college career.

A new survey from CareerBuilder suggests that plenty of Americans never work in the field that they prepared for in college. Among the 2,134 workers surveyed, 47 percent of college graduates did not find a first job that was related to their college major. What’s more, 32 percent of college grads said that they had never worked in a field related to their majors.

Among public institutions, an average of 64.2 percent of full-time, first-time students who started school in fall 2013 returned in fall 2014, according to a report from ACT (America College Testing), which manages the standardized test by the same name. The average rate is slightly higher at private colleges and universities: 70.2 percent. Jan 5, 2016.

The FRESHMAN EXPERIENCE
The Freshman Experience is designed to help RETAIN students by helping them to create a lifestyle of focus, craft their future and fulfill their purpose and destiny in life. Our development tools can be customized in a 15 week long semester program throughout the entire freshmen year.

Example: Semester One Freshmen Year: 15 semester weeks would include individual sessions, customized profiles, videos, PDF’s, personal discussions and exams.

Focus on Personal Identity: This module will provide a detailed analysis of an individual’s ability to understand what influences their behaviors via a Focus Behavioral Profile. It includes a personal graph of their top styles, a complete understanding of the DISC behavioral styles and how to blend and get in sync with others to improve communication and collaboration as they enter the college environment.

Focused Lifestyle: This module provides personal insight and awareness of how to create a lifestyle of focus to overcome distractions. Included are solutions to stay focused on personal goals and objectives. Topics include The Power of Focus, Identifying/Overcoming Distractions, Creating a Focused Environment, Directive Effort and Energy To Achieve Goals, Focused Execution, and Focus on Excellence.

Example: Semester Two Freshmen Year: 15 Weeks Include.

Focused Vision: This course helps individuals prepare for their future and find life’s direction. We help them create a personal vision statement and then identify six core areas of focus: Passion, Placement, Planning, Purpose, Possibilities and Peak Performance by creating OGSM – Objectives, Goals, Strategies and Measures.

Focus on Career Planning: According to the National Center for Education, studies indicate that at least 80 percent of students end up changing their major at least once. On average, college students change their major at least three times over the course of their college career. The added cost of one extra semester is a 10% premium or close to $10,000 according to MoneySmarts (Beyond Tuition Costs – The Cost of Changing Majors) This module offers solutions and includes a Personal analysis of your Focus Behavioral Style, and a Description of 16 National Career Clusters including Tech Prep. We match your focus style with specific occupations that help you get focused, save time and money in your career choice. Students who make the choice of a major earlier in their freshmen year will be able to focus and connect with career opportunities, internships, volunteering, and field studies that will provide real world experience leading to an increase retention rate for your institution.

The WORKPLACE PREPARATION PROGRAM
The Workplace Preparation Program was created to help PREPARE students for the workplace by providing training that employers are desiring. Ed Turose, a Manager and Trainer for over 27 years with The Coca-Cola Company offers his expertise in providing what employers are seeking in developing and improving soft skill such as communication, collaboration, conflict resolution and confidence. The HEROES Effect book will equip students in the virtues needed to succeed in the workplace such as honor, excellence and servanthood. And finally our interviewing module will provide behavioral interviewing techniques to secure their desired job.

Example: First Semester Senior Year: 15 Weeks Include:

Focus Insights: Focused Insights will help you gain an understanding of your personal behavioral strengths, value to the organization, and then apply this information into improving soft skills needed in today’s workplace environment. This training focuses on 6 key soft skills – Communication, Collaboration, Conflict Resolution, Confidence, Creativity and Character.

Focus on The Heroes Effect: The HEROES Effect helps students identify what specific virtues they need to improve on to be effective in the workplace. Applying these virtues will produce favor with their managers and peers, increase in opportunities for their advancement and influence to those within their personal and professional life. The virtues include: Honor, Excellence, Responsibility, Order, Expectation, and Servanthood.

Example: Second Semester Senior Year: 15 Weeks Include

Focus on Interviewing For Success: The Focus On Interviewing Success reviews how to interview successfully. This development tool provides information to help seniors secure the job they desire. It includes training on the behavioral interview, STAR (Situation, Tactics, Actions, Results) interviewing techniques and how to get in sync with the interviewer’s behavioral style to product a productive interview.
